What’s good, y’all? I’m just giving you a heads up that I will be dropping my interview with amazing poet and human, Saddiq Dzukogi on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 9 am.
Saddiq Dzukogi earned his PhD in English, with a concentration in Ethnic Studies and Creative Writing, from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2022. His book Your Crib, My Qibla was selected by Carolyn Forché as the winner of the 2022 Derek Walcott Prize for Poetry. It also won the Julie Suk Award and was a finalist for the Nigeria Prize for Literature. His accolades include the Wilbur Gaffney Academy of American Poets Prize, the Vreeland Poetry Prize, and several fellowships and grants from organizations such as Pen America, the Mississippi Arts Commission, and the Nebraska Arts Council. His book-length poem, Bakandamiya, is forthcoming in fall 2025 with the University of Nebraska Press. He currently lives in Starkville, Mississippi, where he serves as an Assistant Professor of English at Mississippi State University.
His poetry is prolific, and he has an amazing world view and insight for writers and human beings in general. Saddiq has an amazing voice, one that everyone should hear.
